hmmmmm... Before I leave on a field trip tomorrow, I'll leave you with this...
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Robert Frost

Extra credit to the dedicated reader that can name the movie that included that quote...
I'm barely, barely dipping my toe in the water. Barely. Flicking the water around just a little bit, smelling the salt air and remembering how it felt to dive in without thinking that
there might be a rock!
I might hit my head!
I could get stung by a jellyfish!
There could be sharks!
That look like goldfish!
I remember how that felt---- I remember the freedom of being me--- just opening up a vein and bleeding off the excess on the page. I remember not thinking of ulterior motives. I remember the innocence. I remember assuming the best in people.
I don't know if I am going to do this--- I don't know if I dive without the layer of bubble wrap. I don't know.
But I remember. I remember what it felt like.
